Sunshine Village Access Road Petition
THIS SEASON DON’T BE PART OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ON AREAS OF BANFF NATIONAL PARK ADJACENT TO SUNSHINE VILLAGE SKI RESORT.
The Sunshine Access Road is a public road in Banff National Park. It is outside the lease boundary yet Sunshine Village operates a parking lot along the full 8.5km length of the road with little or no regard for public safety, environmental protection, wildlife and the terms of their lease. They don’t even pay for the land use. It’s a FREE 8.5 km parking lot for Sunshine Village at the expense of Canadian taxpayers.
It’s time Parks Canada acts to enforce the lease and hold the line on Sunshine’s ad-hoc parking expansion before they start parking cars on the Trans-Canada Highway.
We are asking Canadians and concerned individuals everywhere to sign a petition requiring Parks Canada to do its job to regulate Sunshine Village and protect Banff National Park. Please sign the Avaaz petition and spread the word to all your friends who care about Canada’s Mountain Parks. Thank You
Above: A Brewster coach squeezes past traffic congestion on the Sunshine Access Road caused by Sunshine employees stopping and directing traffic while a Sunshine Village shuttle-bus blocks the road at the top of the “Rock Cut” hill. Note members of the public standing in the roadway waiting to load the shuttle bus. Is this the “World Class Experience” Parks Canada claims will occur with increased and additional commercial activity in Banff National Park ?
